The "International Symposium on the Development of Green Energy Industry and Carbon Neutrality," jointly organized by the Nagoya University-SinoCarbon Carbon Neutrality and Innovation Joint Laboratory, was successfully held.

To vigorously develop the green energy industry and promote the integration of the energy industry chain in border areas and neighboring countries along the "Belt and Road" through the collaborative efforts of government, industry, academia, and research, with a focus on serving Yunnan and radiating to South Asia and Southeast Asia, the "International Symposium on Green Energy Industrial Development and Carbon Neutrality" was held on August 16 in Kunming, Yunnan. The conference invited representatives from international organizations, renowned experts and scholars from home and abroad, industry leaders, and government officials to deliver speeches on topics such as climate change, the development of the green energy industry, "dual-carbon" goals, international cooperation, and the construction of disciplines related to energy economics and talent development. Action proposals for collaborative efforts were also put forward.

The symposium was organized by the School of Management and Economics at Kunming University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Nagoya University-Sino-Carbon Innovation Joint Laboratory. Co-organizers included Peking University Energy Research Institute, Tsinghua University School of Public Management, Institute for International Development and Global Governance, Renmin University of China, China University of Social Sciences Applied Economics College, University of International Business and Economics Global Value Chain Research Institute, and Hubei University of Economics Carbon Emission Rights Trading Provincial-Ministerial Joint Innovation Center, among others. Leaders such as Luo Chenghui, Inspector of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Tang Jiahua, Party Secretary of Kunming University of Science and Technology, attended and delivered speeches.

During the keynote speech session on the morning of the 16th, eight experts and scholars, including Professor Pu Shilong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, and Dean of the Carbon Neutrality Research Institute of Peking University, and Professor Pan Jiahua, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Vice Chairman of the National Expert Committee on Climate Change, gave brilliant keynote speeches on topics such as the role of China's terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink function in achieving carbon neutrality goals and the high-quality development momentum of zero-carbon transformation.

On the afternoon of the 16th, three specialized forums were held: "Energy Transition and Carbon Neutrality Expert Forum," "New Energy Industry Leaders Forum," and "Economic Discipline Construction and International Talent Training." Experts from various fields in academia, industry, and research engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the paths to achieving the "dual-carbon" goals, carbon accounting, "dual-carbon" trade and value chains, the development of the green energy industry, investment opportunities, and international talent training. Tang Renhu, the Chinese Director of the Nagoya University-Sino-Carbon Innovation Joint Laboratory, was invited to host the "New Energy Industry Leaders Forum," where experts from countries along the Belt and Road, including Myanmar and Laos, discussed the integration of the energy industry chain and international collaborative actions.

On August 17th, the forum organized a field visit for participating experts. Pan Jiahua, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Deputy Director of the National Committee on Climate Change, along with over ten experts and scholars, visited the National Energy Investment Group Yunnan International Power Investment Co., Ltd. for discussions and exchanges. They also went to the project site to gain insights into Yunnan International's technological innovation-related efforts. Wu Zhiquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Yunnan International, participated in the discussions.

The experts visited Yunnan International Smart Park, exhibition hall, and the New Energy Control Center. They gained in-depth insights into the general situation of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), as well as Yunnan International's industrial layout, international clean energy development, innovative technologies, collaboration between industry, academia, and research, and corporate social responsibility. During the on-site inspection of the Yunnan International Yun Aluminum Yangzonghai project, the experts praised the innovative use of domestic photovoltaic direct current access to aluminum busbar technology, providing successful experience and a good demonstration for the green transformation of high-energy-consuming enterprises and the construction of new power systems, worthy of vigorous promotion and widespread application.
