Lab Co-Director Tang Renhu was invited to participate in the second "Chengdu-Chongqing Dual City - Dual Carbon Forum" and delivered a speech.

On October 26, the second "Chengdu-Chongqing Dual City - Dual Carbon Forum" was successfully held in Chengdu, co-hosted by the Chengdu Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chongqing Academy of Science and Technology, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Southwest Energy Research Institute of State Power Investment Corporation (Sichuan New Energy Research Center), and Chengdu-Chongqing Dual Carbon Innovation Community. The forum, themed "Advocating Dual Carbon and Collaborating for Green Development," brought together academicians, renowned scholars, corporate executives, and other guests in the field of dual carbon to exchange advanced ideas, discuss cutting-edge issues, showcase the latest achievements, and deepen practical cooperation. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Qu Jiansheng, Party Secretary of the Chengdu Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Speeches were delivered by Zhong Guoqiang, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office and Deputy Director of the Reform Office of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee; Yang Zaolin, Deputy Director and Chief Inspector of the Sichuan Intellectual Property Service Promotion Center; and Liu Gangjun, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the System Unit of the Chengdu Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The forum invited 12 academicians and experts to give keynote and special reports on topics such as energy security strategy, carbon sink capacity expansion and ecological restoration, green and low-carbon transportation, and green innovation in the Chengdu-Chongqing region.

In the keynote session, Professor Liu Yanhua, Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Honorary Director of the National Expert Committee on Climate Change, and former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, delivered a speech. Academician Feng Qi, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the Lanzhou Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also shared insights. Additionally, presentations were given by Huang Jing, Director and Researcher of the China Agenda Management Center for the 21st Century, and Zhou Qingjia, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sichuan Power Company of State Power Investment Corporation, as well as Chairman and General Manager of Southwest Energy Research Institute of State Power Investment Corporation. Bai Shiqie, Director and Researcher of the Agricultural Science and Technology Research Institute at Southwest University of Science and Technology, also contributed to the engaging discussions.

In the parallel forum of special reports, experts shared research and practices related to dual-carbon development in areas such as low-carbon development in transportation, strategic focus on dual-carbon in Sichuan, regional industrial transformation, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology, recycling of chemical resources, development of green methanol, and scientific and technological information services. Tang Renhu, the Co-Director of the Nagoya University-SinoCarbon Carbon Neutrality and Innovation Laboratory, was invited to participate in the forum. He shared insights on the opportunities and challenges of developing green hydrogen-based fuels under the backdrop of dual-carbon, covering external constraints, development prospects, international certification requirements, and production processes.

During the on-site interview session, Tang Renhu, along with experts and scholars such as Wang Xueding, the leader of the Science and Technology Group of the Decision Consultation Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, discussed the theme of collaborative innovation in "Science-Industry-Finance" under the dual-carbon development strategy. They explored breakthroughs in technology, industrial trends, challenges faced by enterprises, financial investment, collaborative development in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and development paths in the energy sector under the dual-carbon strategy.
